summerslegal
fees & payment
summerslegal endeavours to make all their clients aware of approximate legal costs at the commencement of a matter. However, this is not always possible as there are many factors which may vary costs such as:
  • the complexity of the matter
  • at what point in time the matter is resolved
  • the extent of work is required to be performed

Pursuant to Rule 16A of the Professional Conduct Rules our solicitors are bound to provide clients with certain information about their professional fees and disbursements, billing arrangements and the client’s rights in relation to the payment and assessment of costs. It is important that this information be given to you at this early stage so that you have a clear understanding of the terms governing the solicitor and client relationship.

Costs & Charges

Costs & Charges from 1 July 2008

summerslegal accepts payment by cheques or cash and has available eftpos and credit card facilities (visacard, bankcard or mastercard only).

We review our standard professional charges each year. Should there be any variations, we will notify you. If you are unsure about a particular lawyer’s hourly rate you may contact our office for that information.

Please note that the hourly rates noted in the Schedule of Charges are exclusive of Goods and Services Tax ("GST"). As such, we will include GST in our costs billed.

On all matters, we will charge disbursements such as photocopying, telephone (local and international) and facsimile transmissions (local and international), filing and search fees and postage.

If we believe it is necessary to engage specialist services such as a Barrister or expert on your behalf, we will first consult with you about the method and terms of their engagement.

If we become liable to pay GST on disbursements charged to you, the GST will be added to our charges. If you are an overseas resident, you will not be liable to pay GST.
